No single person can fix every problem in the world. We all have limited time and money. Because of this, we must use our resources wisely.

I worked as an elementary school teacher for many years. During that time, I met thousands of children and families. Many of them faced heavy challenges that were completely out of their control. These hardships were not caused by a lack of effort. They happened because of unfair barriers and tough life circumstances.

The Family Relief Nursery gives these families the vital support they need to overcome life’s hurdles. This organization focuses on early prevention. Helping families early is highly effective and saves money. It is always better to stop a problem before it starts than to try and fix it later.

I feel very lucky. Hard work and big opportunities helped me along the way, but they are not the only reasons I am safe and comfortable today. Many of my biggest advantages were just matters of good fortune. I grew up in a safe, supportive community in rural Oregon during a time when the economy was strong. My parents worked hard and taught me to do the same. School was also easy for me because I did not face learning or developmental challenges. These early advantages gave me a strong start in life.

Today, I have everything I need and much of what I want. Because I have so much, I choose to share my good fortune. I gladly give my volunteer time and financial gifts to support the important mission of the Family Relief Nursery.
